Pulling apart the TV for the fresnel lens

Testing the lens

Just holding the lens we managed to melt the road

This is how the tin of beans ended up

Gasifier test, because every BBQ should have one.

mmm I will have to resize the images, for now if you right click and select view image in new tab or copy image location it opens the image in a smaller view (on my pc anyway).
I will look at resizing them soon.

Hi. Two things : 1, you can do the same as the fresnel lens with a couple of mirrors can't you?
& 2, when are you having the next get together?

Hi ozspark,

Using 2 mirrors would not give you the same power/heat you get from one of these lenses. A fresnel lens can be purchased online however it is cheaper to get a free or $50 TV and take it out yourself. A good lens will melt steel.

As for the next meeting, I am away for longer than expected so once I return I will arrange another one. Simon may host one prior to my return, if he does I will ask him to post it here.

Just make a time date and place and see who comes!

Public parks with easy access and covered bench's are good

The park at woody point opposite Victoria Ave is handy, bbq covered tables and toilets and easy to find!
