knew a man once who said that he had drilled a well that flowed oil out the western QLD and it was so good, he could put it straight into his hilux (diesel) and drive around.  Don't know how true that was but he sure wasn't telling me where.

Knew another man who said he was part of a US survey team who looked for resources in WQLD and he swears that all the good oil deposits are under national parks.  Govs way of locking them up and keeping them quiet, he said.

I should really stay out of the public bar.

Have lots of kero lamps.  Some storm lanterns which are incidentally very useful in storm conditions and some decorative table lamps.  And boy do I look great in the light!  But from experience, they do not throw out enough light for me.  I can't sew or read easily by kero light.  I find that candles give a much brighter light over a longer distance so have invested in several rather nice liberace style candleabras which we often use together with high quality 9 hour candles made in Nimbin.  Avoid chinese made candles as they can give off toxic gas when used.

I was using a kero heater till about  15 years ago. I had to get rid of as I started to get bad headaches when around kero run things.

..

Im planning sometime to  test out one of the solar ovens which can be made via youtube instructions.. want to try to cook a chicken in one.

Want a good solar oven?  Get a wheelbarrow with a shiny metal body.  Then tip it up the position towards the sun.  Rig up something to hold your chicken, IE rack on a trivet and then keep moving the wheelbarrow around as the sun turns.

When not in use, use as a wheelbarrow.  Or line your ordinary wheelbarrow with alfoil.

Can use lots of different things with alfoil.

I think I prefer the lower-tech kero lanterns, no pressure or mantles. And AFAIK kero lasts pretty much forever.
