mushrooms...no, not the funny kind
« on: March 02, 2018, 09:38:25 am »

Anyone here growing mushrooms? I'd love to grow proper ones, not just the box from bunnings. I don't want to have to continually buy spores though, anyone have experience in total self-sustainability in this area?

well do you have a house on stilts? it all depends on the type you are after, oyster mushrooms is something thats easy to get into growing, the spores are on this wood, and you can just bury it in coffee grounds but i guess you might need a future proof the coffee grounds

The house is on a slope so we have a bit of room underneath, but actually toying with the idea of building a basement. Seem to have a hard time finding info on growing mushies without relying on an outside source for spores. Might have buy some books...

I tried growing mushrooms under the house but unfortunately you also get mould growing inside the house once you do that   :'(
